Wofford never trailed in the game Saturday, they got on the board first with a 13 yard Dylan Djete TD run. That made it 7-0 Wofford in the 1st , Citadel then scored on a big play in the run game. Cooper Wallace ran for 56 yards to pay dirt to tie it at 7-7 in the 2nd quarter. Wofford would go on a run from there.

The Terriers went a 24-0 burst from 4:30 left in the 2nd to early in the 3rd. That stretch included a FG and three TD passes from Wofford QB Jimmy Welrick. The Terriers were able to cash in on short field situations during the scoring run.

Wofford was outgained 398 to 349 in total offense. However, they were plus 2 in the turnover margin and capitalized on Citadel miscues. QB Jimmy Welrick was 14 of 24 for 232 yards and 3 TD's. More importantly, Welrick valued the ball and didn't have any major mishaps.

9 different Wofford players caught at least one pass, in a passing attack that was spreading the ball around. Welrick made solid decisions going to check downs and taking what the defense gave him. The Terriers got TD catches from R.J. Khayo, Landon Parker and Devin Matthews. For Citadel, Cooper Wallace had 87 rushing yards and a rushing TD on 7 carries.

While, Wofford is now 3-19 in their last 22 games, they are 1-1 under in this new era under Watson. This could be a breathe of fresh air and some sunshine for a program that hasn't seen much of that in that couple seasons. It remains to be seen if this is an isolated occurrence or if it will be the start of a push for the Terriers. Regardless, it is a step in the right direction momentarily and something for the program to point to as a positive. Wofford will look to build on the win, they have a bye week and then host ETSU October 29th.
