An Upstate man is facing charges after fighting with police officers during a New Year's Eve incident. The Honea Path Police Department responded to a call of a suspicious person at a business on Main Street.
The suspect, Stephen Phillip Patterson Jr. fled the scene prior to officers arriving. He was located at a home on Heyward Avenue. Police say Patterson became combative when they arrived.
A fight ensued and Patterson tried to access an officer's gun during the struggle. Patterson was eventually subdued and taken into custody. He's charged with four counts of assaulting an officer.
