Officials in Western North Carolina say a middle school student is dead following a fiery weekend crash. The single vehicle wreck happened on Highway 108 in Polk County, just before 1PM Sunday.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol says a truck ran off the road, hit a tree and caught fire. Both the driver and a passenger died after being trapped inside the burning vehicle.
The victims have not been officially identified, at this time. However, school officials in Polk County say one of the victims was a middle school student there.
