Your hair is probably the last thing that you thought would be affected by Trump's tariffs, but alas, here we are.

As we anxiously wait to see how the Trump administration's tariffs are going to affect our bottom lines, when it comes to apparel, shoes, and yes, hair, business owners are bracing and preparing the best they can for major price hikes.

In what has shaped out to be a trade war, the US has imposed 145% tariffs on goods imported from China. While Trump has made it so that iPhones, laptops, and key tech gear will be exempt from the tariffs, other Chinese imported goods are still going to be hit hard.

One thing that many aren't thinking of is the hair industry. A great deal of the extensions and wigs are imported from China. One ATL wig store owner anticipated a 25-30% increase in synthetic wigs while human hair wigs can see an increase of maybe $100 or more.

The only alternative to the price hike is to find alternative suppliers in countries like India and Vietnam, which takes time, and create a change in the quality of products that consumers may be used to.
