As the SEC Championship game nears and the Georgia Bulldogs look to pick up a second win over the Texas Longhorns, one of the biggest questions surrounding the game for the Bulldogs is whether or not they can pull off taking down the Longhorns for a second time this season. On Thursday, The Steakhouse with Rusty Mansell and Abe Gordon, shared some thoughts on the subject as they previewed Saturday’s championship showdown.
“It’s going to be different,” Mansell said in response to Gordon’s question as to whether or not the outcome of the SEC title game will have a different result from the first outing between the two teams, noting he believes Texas’ will change up their game plan due to how they loss in the first game. “Texas got stoned. They got beat by two touchdowns, they had no answer for Georgia defensively. Steve Sarkisian is going to have to come completely different offensive scheme wise against Georgia,” Mansell added.
Noting his concern Georgia may not be able to perform as well as they did the first go-a-round with the Longhorns, Gordon questioned why he should believe the Bulldogs would be able to once again dominate Texas. “The inconsistency to perform with their A game is what gives me the biggest cause of concern, not just on Saturday, but for their whole playoff run,” Gordon explained. “I think Georgia can be the best team in the country, but they have to do it three weeks in a row and I don’t know if they will,” Gordon added.
