A woman was detained Monday after driving her SUV onto the Minnesota Capitol Mall in St. Paul, waving a "Trump 2024" flag and clutching a bible to her chest.

The incident happened around 11 a.m. as a press conference was being held in support of embattled Democratic state Rep. John Thompson.

The woman, identified as 52-year-old Tammi Jo Jeka, allegedly drove across the Capitol's south lawn before she drove up onto the sidewalk at the foot of the Capitol steps and started waving the Trump flag out of her window.

Witnesses say Jeka was honking her horn and yelling, “I’m a white woman! There is only one race!”

She drove back across the Capitol’s south lawn, which is a restricted area, and was stopped by police. After speaking with troopers, who took the keys to her vehicle, Jeka was taken into custody around 12:40 p.m. and transported to a hospital for evaluation. Before she got into the cop car, witnesses say she shouted “As above, so below! Burn in hell f------,” and used both hands to give the middle finger.

It's not clear if Jeka is facing any criminal charges for the incident, which interrupted Thompson's news conference. The state Representative was addressing calls for his resignation after past allegations of domestic violence surfaced. He said he would not step down.
