Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills have announced their eight team captains for the upcoming 2023 season of football in Orchard Park.

LISTEN LIVE TO WGR:

Seven of the eight captains named on Wednesday are returning names to the group from the 2022 season. This includes quarterback Josh Allen, wide receiver Stefon Diggs and center Mitch Morse being offensive captains, Von Miller, Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer being defensive captains, and Tyler Matakevich serving as a special teams captain.

The only new addition to the captains group this season is wide receiver Gabe Davis, who is a first-time captain in his four-year NFL career.

This is the fifth-straight season Allen has been named an offensive captain for the Bills. He is joined by Diggs, a captain for his third-straight year in Buffalo, and Morse, a second-time captain in his fifth season in Buffalo.

On the defensive side of the ball, Poyer is a defensive captain for a fourth-straight season, while Hyde is now a captain for the third time in his tenure with the Bills.

As for Miller, he earns a captaincy spot once again on defense after signing with the Bills in March of 2022. He, however, will miss, at least, the first four games of the 2023 season after being placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list to start the year.

Meanwhile, Matakevich will serve as a captain for a third-straight season on special teams.

The Bills will open their 2023 season on Monday, Sept. 11 against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

We'll have live wall-to-wall coverage of the Bills and Jets on WGR starting at 6 a.m. ET during the "Jeremy White Show". Kickoff slated for 8:15 p.m. ET and can be heard on WGR with Chris Brown, Eric Wood and Sal Capaccio on the call of the game.
