Slay not reporting to Bills, placed on Reserve/Did Not Report list

The veteran cornerback was claimed off waivers by the Bills on Wednesday

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Just two days after being claimed off waivers by the Buffalo Bills, veteran cornerback Darius Slay is not set to report to Orchard Park.

As first reported by multiple NFL insiders on Thursday, Slay has informed the Bills he will not report to the team, and is "unsure if he wants to continue playing." Because of this, the Bills placed Slay on the Reserve/Did Not Report list on Friday.

Slay's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, issued the following statement to ESPN following his decision on Thursday:

"Slay is honored that a first-class organization like the Bills claimed him, but he is going to take some time away from football right now and decide in the next few days if he wants to keep playing."

The 34-year-old was recently released by the Steelers after signing a one-year contract in free agency. Both parties agreed to part ways following a season that has seen him produce 36 tackles in 10 games played.

He was a healthy scratch for the Steelers this past Sunday in their 26-7 loss to the Bills in Pittsburgh.

The Bills will retain his rights.
