Josh Allen named AFC Offensive Player of the Week

This marks the third time Allen has earned the league honor in 2024

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - More-and-more accolades continue to pile up for Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, in, what has already been, an MVP-caliber season.

For the third time this season and 15th time in his NFL career, Allen has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Once again, while facing one of the best teams in the conference, Allen had to be sharp from start-to-finish. Allen ended up going 23-of-34 through the air for 362 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also added 68 yards on the ground on 11 carries and another pair of scores.

It was another record-breaking performance for the Bills quarterback in a 48-42 win over the Detroit Lions, as Allen became the first quarterback in NFL history to record multiple passing and rushing touchdowns in the same game in back-to-back contests.

Allen was able to get multiple players involved in the passing game this past Sunday, as nine different players caught a pass. Ty Johnson led the way with five catches for 114 yards and a touchdown.

Johnson was also the first Bills running back since Fred Jackson in 2010 to record more than 100 yards receiving as a running back.

With the win Sunday, Allen has tied Patrick Mahomes for the second-most regular-season wins by a quarterback (74) in his first seven seasons in the NFL.

The other two weeks this season that Allen has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week were Week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and just two weeks ago in a win over the San Francisco 49ers.

This is also the eighth time this season where a member of the Bills has been named AFC Player of the Week, the most in a single season in team history.

Other Bills players to earn league honors this season as AFC Player of the Week includes:

- Week 1: Greg Rousseau - AFC Defensive Player of the Week
- Week 2: James Cook - AFC Offensive Player of the Week
- Week 9: Tyler Bass - AFC Special Teams Player of the Week
- Week 10: Taron Johnson - AFC Defensive Player of the Week
- Week 11: Terrel Bernard - AFC Defensive Player of the Week

Allen was also named AFC Player of the Month earlier this season in September.
