PORT HURON (WWJ) - A man who tried to break into an apartment in Port Huron was stopped when he was shot by a house guest.
Police say the 38-year old man forced his way into a 25-year old woman's apartment at the Village Manor complex on Electric Avenue around 11 p.m. Monday.
The woman told police the man was trying to assault her and her 30-year-old sister, who was visiting from Detroit, when the sister pulled out a gun and shot him in the leg.
The suspect took off and was later found at the hospital. He was treated and then taken to jail.
The sister who fired the shot was also taken to jail for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
As for a motive, investigators say the woman and the suspect knew each other and were involved in a dispute over another person who lived nearby.
