DETROIT (WWJ) – A 24-year-old Detroit man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of an Inkster man in Dearborn last summer.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office alleges Ronald Yharbrough shot 31-year-old Brendan Shelton and left him for dead at an apartment complex in the 5070 block of Heather Drive on Aug. 29.
Authorities say the shooting happened around 8:30 a.m. that morning when Dearborn police officers were called to the complex and found Shelton on the ground, unresponsive in the rear of the building.
Shelton had been shot multiple times. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Prosecutors say Yharbrough shot Shelton multiple times before fleeing the scene, but officials have not released a motive in the case.
Yharbrough has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of felony firearm. He was arraigned Thursday morning via Zoom in 19th District Court and given a $500,000 cash bond with a GPS tether.
His next court appearance is scheduled for April 13.
