DETROIT (WWJ) -- Residents in southwest Detroit had to be evacuated from their homes after fire at a manufacturing company overnight.
WWJ's Charlie Langton reports the fire broke out around 11 p.m. on Sunday at Dewitt Products on Plumer Street near Livernois and Toledo.
Firefighters went into the building and were initially pouring water on the fire, but once the flames became too intense, they got out.
As of 6 a.m. on Monday, fire crews were still on the scene attempting to contain the flames, which reportedly spread to multiple buildings, some of which were built in 1900.
The cause of the blaze hasn't been determined, and no injuries were reported.
Dewitt Products, which has been in business since 1931, make asphalt roof cements and coatings, as well as other products.
The company's COO says they have insurance and plan on rebuilding.
Previously, they had a fire that damaged half the building.
