TRENTON (WWJ) -- A fatal motorcycle crash has resulted in the loss of a Southgate teenage girl.
The accident happened on Tuesday evening around 8:00 p.m. on northbound Fort Street in Trenton.
The News Herald reports that a 33-year-old man, also from Southgate, was driving the motorcycle when a crash occurred, killing the passenger, who was just 16-years-old.
After Trenton authorities arrived, the driver was transported to a local hospital, where his condition remains unknown. The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
Little is known about what caused the crash, and it seems as though no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
"It's just a sad, sad, situation," Trenton Deputy Chief Michael Oakley said in a statement. "Our thoughts go out to the surviving victim and the deceased victim's families."
The Downriver Crash Team is currently investigating the situation.
