LINCOLN PARK (WWJ) - A road rage investigation involving shots fired at a driver on I-75 lead troopers to the door of a Lincoln Park man -- who then got busted for allegedly preparing cocaine for distribution.

Michigan State Police said they became aware of the alleged freeway shooting on Thursday, Nov. 16 after a female driver contacted 911 stating a driver had open fired on her while on I-75 near Southfield Road at around 11 p.m.

The woman stated she drove home before calling police and troopers spoke with her at her residence.

According to the victim, she and the suspect were involved in a road rage incident when they both entered southbound I-75 from Southfield Road. The woman said they were in the left lane and the suspect was in the right lane when she noticed a flash and a loud sound coming from the driver's side of the suspect vehicle.

The suspect got off the freeway at Dix Road while the victim continued to drive on. Troopers stated they didn't find any damage to the woman's car.

During their investigation, troopers were able to develop a description of the suspect driver, including the vehicle used in the incident and the vehicle's license plate.

This led troopers to the doorstep of a Lincoln Park man who was questioned about the incident. MSP said a gun allegedly used in the freeway shooting was found at the home.

In addition, troopers said they also stumbled across what appeared to be cocaine that was packaged for suspected distribution.

An investigation by state police is ongoing with a report expected to be submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor's office for review once completed.

"Not sure any other way we can say that using a gun to settle a dispute is ridiculous." said MSP 1st Lt. Mike Shaw. "It is even more ridiculous to fire a gun from a moving car not knowing who or what that bullet may hit over a driving dispute."
