DETROIT (WWJ) -- Some rain is on its way to metro Detroit Sunday, before temperatures are expected to plummet Monday and Tuesday, bringing possible snow flurries.

AccuWeather meteorologist Matt Bez says Sunday will be breezy and cloudy with periods of rain -- and perhaps even some rumbles of thunder -- throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

The high temperature is expected to approach 50 later in the evening in most areas, but a wintry mix of freezing rain, snow and sleet is expected in the northern areas of Midland, Bay, Saginaw, Tuscola and Huron Counties, where a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 10 p.m.

The National Weather Service says that could result in slick roads and hazardous travel conditions, though it will transition to all rain as the temperatures rise.

A strong cold front is expected to move in overnight, bringing falling temperatures and "very windy conditions" on Monday.

Winds of up to 40 mph are expected on Monday, with temps falling throughout the day and into the 30s by the afternoon, while RealFeel temperatures will drop into the teens by the end of the day.

There's a chance of snow flurries on Tuesday as temps drop even further, with a high of 28 degrees, Benz said.
