TROY (WWJ) -- A 58-year-old Troy man is in trouble with the law after his son called the police to report him for driving drunk.

According to Troy Police, officers responded to Somerset Blvd., near Coolidge Hwy. and Big Beaver, the afternoon of Friday, May 9, after a caller said his father had left their residence intoxicated.

Officers found the father's vehicle headed southbound on Crooke Rd., near Maplelawn, and pulled him over for a traffic violation.

Speaking with the driver, police said they noted his speech was slurred, his eyes were glassy, watery and bloodshot, and there was a strong smell of alcohol coming from the car.

After the driver performed poorly on a series of sobriety tests, he took a breathalyzer with results of .28% BAC (blood alcohol concentration) — which is more than three times the limit to drive under Michigan law.

The driver was arrested and taken to the Troy Police lockup where a Chemical Breath Test showed he had a 255% and .248% BAC, officials said.

The man was charged with Operating While Intoxicated (OWI). His name was not released.
