Elliss' father Luther played on the defensive line in the NFL for a decade, nine of those years with the Detroit Lions.  Kaden recently told KXLY television in Spokane, WA that he always wanted to follow in his father's footsteps.

"I always knew I wanted to be a professional athlete because my dad was, you know that was cool. Getting to watch how he played, I don't know it makes you want to play that way, seeing how ferocious and passionately he played."

Former Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert hopes Elliss' can be as good as his father.

"I hope he can be as good as his dad," Hebert said.  "C'mon, I remember Luther, he was a beast."

WWL draft analyst Mike Detillier says Elliss will compete for a job on special teams.

"The Saints were looking for a linebacker who can play on special teams, has some versatility.  And he has some genetics."

Elliss started all 11 games for the Vandals his senior season with 16 tackles for loss and a career-high seven sacks, and was an All Big Sky First Team selection.
