The New Orleans Saints have a few injury situations to monitor heading into their Week 3 matchup with the Raiders, including a pair of hamstring injuries.
Starting RB Travis Etienne was limited, while WR and return specialist Barion Brown missed Wednesday's practice with injuries stemming from the Week 2 win over the Ravens. Etienne has seem a surprisingly limited workload thus far, operating in tandem with Kendre Miller in Week 1 and Alvin Kamara in Week 2. The big money free agent acquisition has logged just 17 carries for 71 yards through the first two weeks of the season.
Brown was one of three Saints players who did not participate along with DT Christen Miller (toe) and CB Martin Emerson Jr. (shoulder). Miller's injury occurred during last Friday's practice, while Emerson came up hurt after making a hit on a Ravens WR along the sideline. Four players in total were limited, while LB Isaiah Stalbird was a full participant after missing Week 2 with a shoulder injury.
Here's how the full injury report broke down on Wednesday:
DNP = did not participate; LP = limited participation; FP = full participation
- WR Barion Brown (hamstring): DNP
- CB Martin Emerson Jr. (shoulder): DNP
- DT Christen Miller (toe): DNP
- RB Travis Etienne (hamstring): LP
- S Jonas Sanker (knee): LP
- DT Nathan Shepherd (hip): LP
- DE Chase Young (calf): LP
- LB Isaiah Stalbird (shoulder): FP
Young was limited throughout practice last week with a calf issue but played his full allotment of snaps vs the Ravens.
The Saints also announced three roster moves on Wednesday, officially moving LT Kelvin Banks to IR as he readies for surgery to repair his injured ankle, and they have signed long snapper Cal Adomitis into that open spot. The Saints will have a third long snapper in as many weeks after Scott Daly opted to sign with the Bears after being elevated from the Saints practice squad last week in place of the injured Zach Wood. Daly played for Chicago previously and head coach Kellen Moore indicated that the potential long-term opportunity with the Bears was a factor in him deciding to leave. The Saints also waived RB Audric Estime from IR with an injury settlement, and he will now have the option to sign with another team.
On the other side, the Raiders had a pair of players miss practice, while five others were limited. Here's how their half of the injury report broke down:
- QB Aidan O'Connell (NIR-personal): DNP
- S Treydan Stukes (concussion): DNP
- TE Brock Bowers (knee): LP
- LB Nakobe Dean (shoulder): LP
- DT Folorunso Fatukasi (shoulder): LP
- CB Darien Porter (foot): LP
- WR Dareke Young (hamstring): LP
- LB Segun Olubi (knee): FP
- DT JJ Pegues (back): FP
The Saints (1-1) face off with the Raiders (2-0) at 3:25 p.m. Sunday inside the Caesars Superdome. Catch all the action on WWL and Audacy.
