(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Election Day is a holiday in Illinois and 10 other states, but closures vary among businesses.
All Illinois Secretary of State offices and facilities are closed today in observance of Election Day but people can still visit the Secretary of State's website for online services, such as license plate renewals and eligibility to renew drivers licenses. Vehicle emission testing stations are also closed today.
Election Day's holiday status varies in Illinois, so depending on where you live, different buildings may or may not be open.
Election Day isn't listed as a holiday on the city of Chicago's website, so offices are expected to be open today, but Chicago Public schools said schools and offices will be closed for the holiday.
Cook County departments and offices will also be closed today.
All facilities will reopen tomorrow.
