(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Mayor Lightfoot says she was disappointed to learn The Loretto Hospital sent a team of medical workers to vaccinate more than 70 hotel and restaurant workers at Trump Tower who were ineligible to receive the shots so soon.
Lightfoot called Loretto Hospital a “tremendous partner” with the city - not only in vaccinating more than 90% of its hospital staff but also because of its work on the West Side of Chicago.
She expressed disappointment that Loretto vaccinated the workers at Trump Tower out of turn.
“I think they’ve owned responsibility for this. They know it was a mistake,” she said.
Still, Lightfoot noted she’s asked Public Health Commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady to “dig deeper” to make sure there’s nothing more to the story than an honest mistake.
“To make sure — to quote a phrase — to ‘trust but verify,’” the mayor said.
The CEO of The Loretto Hospital, George Miller, told WBBM Newsradio he takes “full responsibility” for the error.
