(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot gave a meticulously produced farewell address today, a week ahead of when she turns over her office to successor Brandon Johnson.
Lightfoot’s remarks were preceded by a drum line and a short video of highlights and tributes. Not surprisingly, the mayor talked about the challenges she faced, including the COVID pandemic, and her accomplishments.
She said she said the city has enjoyed a credit upgrade as she hands the reins to her successor, Brandon Johnson, after her single term in office.
Lightfoot said she will continue to live in Chicago as “Private Citizen Lightfoot” and will be “continually rooting for you and every resident of our city.”
