McHenry restaurant under investigation for food poisoning

MCHENRY (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Health officials are investigating an outbreak of suspected food poisoning from a restaurant in McHenry.

The McHenry County Health Department said more than a dozen people reported becoming sick to their stomachs after eating at the D.C. Cobbs restaurant in McHenry. There are three D.C. Cobbs locations, but problems were only reported at the McHenry location.

Nicole Wanhala told CBS-2 she ate the Buffalo cauliflower bites and had a wrap.

“From nausea, diarrhea, shaking, chills, fever, it was a pretty brutal, I’d say like, 24 hours,” Wanahala said.

Wanhala said she was one of them and tells CBS-2 she’s surprised the eatery is still open.

“Follow them on Instagram and saw today they were, like, yup, serving sandwiches, come on in. That was a little head-scratching to me,” Wanhala said.

The McHenry County Health Department said D.C. Cobbs is fully cooperating with the agency. Anyone who ate at the D.C. Cobbs in McHenry between August 29th and this past Tuesday is asked to complete a survey by the health department as it tries to determine the outbreak’s cause.
