SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Governor JB Pritzker says this week's win by Chicago Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson is part of a "sea of change" that's going on in "the Blue Wall"…the Democratic Midwest.
He congratulated Johnson and called his victory a big win, despite how slim the margin was.
"In fact, when you say it was a small margin-Actually, I think there were people who thought he would lose by a larger margin than he ended up winning by."
Pritzker said Johnson represents a new generation of voters.
"Anybody that's ever run for public office knows that when you can overcome expectations or succeed in winning especially in an important city like Chicago, they deserve enormous kudos."
He also stated that he's looking forward to working with Johnson.
