A new sober living retreat is opening its doors in McHenry County on Thursday.
The facility run by New Directions Addiction Recovery Services sits on 5 acres in Woodstock.
President Chris Reed on Monday said clients will stay for three or four months as they transition to a more permanent situation.
They’re accepting the first 16 clients, who will receive coaching, transportation to meetings and other help as they get jobs and driver’s licenses.
There are already 70 people on the waiting list for the retreat, which will house 35 people on the road to recovery.
Drug forfeiture funds from the McHenry County state’s attorney’s office helped pay for the facility, which used to be a PADS Homeless Services building.
