CHICAGO (WBBM Newsradio) – A man was taken into custody after a woman was stabbed during a domestic dispute early Tuesday in Chicago's West Englewood neighborhood, police said.
The stabbing happened around 2 a.m. inside a residence near 72nd Street and Hoyne Avenue on the city's Southwest Side.
According to Chicago police, a 40-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman were inside the home when a verbal argument escalated into a physical confrontation. Police said the man allegedly produced a sharp object and stabbed the woman in the neck and abdomen before fleeing.
Officers quickly located and arrested the suspect. Charges are pending.
The woman was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was listed in good condition.
Area One detectives are investigating the incident.
