Major League Baseball announced its All-Star reserves on Sunday afternoon, and Jackson Merrill, Luis Arraez and Robert Suarez will be heading to Arlington, Texas, along with Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jurickson Profar, who were voted in as starters. Merrill's inclusion means the Padres' entire outfield made the All-Star team. It is the 1st All-Star appearance for Merrill, Suarez and Profar, Tatis' 2nd and Arraez's 3rd appearance.
The last time the Padres had five All-Stars was in 2021, when Tatis, Jake Cronenworth, Yu Darvish, Mark Melancon and Manny Machado made the team. It's the second most selections in a single season in Padres history. Jackson Merrill is the first Padre rookie and youngest Padre to be named to the All-Star team, as well as this season's youngest All-Star.
