People who are afraid of snakes are always amazed when they see someone handling the reptile with no fear. However, when a snake escaped from its aquarium enclosure recently, even the snake handlers knew they should be a bit nervous. The Blue Zoo Aquarium in Louisiana was forced to shut down this week after a 12-foot python escaped its enclosure and is still loose somewhere inside the mall where the aquarium is located.
The St. George Fire Department was called to the Mall of Louisiana this week to help search for and corral a massive snake on the loose. The snake is still missing, and the aquarium isn’t sure how it escaped. “Cara is a non-poisonous, friendly snake that enjoys her time interacting with guests during our Snake Education Shows. Cara is an adored member of our Blue Zoo family. The safety of our animals is of utmost importance to us, so to ensure Cara’s safety, we will be closed for the day,” the aquarium said in a statement.
The 12-foot python is normally used in shows to entertain children, according to Fox News. With the snake still on the loose, the aquarium believes it could have made its way inside the ceiling. Hopefully the snake is found before it starts to get hungry.
