For many parents, the most frustrating part of their day comes when sitting in the drive-thru or pick up line at their kid’s school. Luckily for those parents, they may have a new way of sending their kids to school that won’t cost them a dime. DART recently announced they are considering a free fare program for Dallas area students K-12.

Earlier this week, the Dallas City Council adopted a resolution that would allow all Dallas area students to ride DART buses and trains for free. Now, DART is working on a plan that would give students free access to get to school or after-school activities. "It’s still in the very preliminary stages. We’re discussing how this will impact finance and security and what are the concerns people will have in a situation like this,” said DART Spokesperson Gordon Shattles.

According to Fox 4 News, more than 120,000 riders use DART trains, buses and other modes of transit every day. With this plan, that number would definitely increase with more young people on board. Hopefully this makes getting their kids to school easier for parents.
