It has been over a decade since HBO first aired the final episode of 'The Sopranos,' and yet fans are still discussing the controversial final scene. While many thought their television had broken during the final scene, some still haven't gotten over the show abruptly ending as Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin'' played. Now, the show's creator has revealed it was almost a different song used to disappoint fans all these years later.
David Chase, the creator of 'The Sopranos,' recently discussed the series with cast members Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa, and the controversial ending was brought up. While Chase has discussed the show's ending numerous times since it first aired, he gave a new fact about the ending. According to Chase, there were three options for songs to use during the final scene, and while he couldn't remember the second choice, the first one was; Al Green's 'Love & Happiness.'
Of course, Chase ended up choosing the Journey song due to the reaction of his crew when giving them the options. "Everyone went, 'Oh, Jesus Christ, no!' And I thought, 'That's the one,'" said Chase. While that ending would have been much different, fans likely still would have been very upset.
