Being a garbage man may not be the most sought after job available, but two DFW men are doing their part to change that. The men recently competed in a national garbage truck rodeo competition, showing off the skills they use every day on the job. They beat out thousands of others for their spots in the contest.

On Tuesday, Ryan Nelson of Lewisville and Shawn Alexander of Arlington took part in the Republic Services ROAD-EO National Championship in Arizona. The competition has contests for drivers, heavy equipment operators and maintenance technicians. According to NBC DFW, the two DFW competitors were in the maintenance technician portion, where they are given 10 minutes to identify 10 different problems on a collection or post-collection vehicle.
