While the TSA has relaxed their policy on how much shampoo you can bring on a flight, bringing a gun in your carry-on is still a big no-no.
Travelers flying out of Dallas seem to have trouble with that concept.
Both DFW and Love Field landed in the top ten airports in the country where firearms were intercepted by TSA agents. In 2023, DFW agents found 378 guns while Love Field agents found 125.
The total number of firearms TSA agents intercepted last year was 6,737, up from 6,542 the year before.
Per NBC DFW, the top ten airports for firearm discoveries included:
1 - Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
2 - Dallas Fort Worth International Airport
3 - George Bush Houston Intercontinental Airport
4 - Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport
5 - Nashville International Airport
6 - Denver International Airport
7 - Orlando International Airport
8 - Tampa International Airport
9 - Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport
10 - Dallas Love Field Airport
What's more, the TSA said that 93% of the firearms recovered were loaded!
TSA Administrator David Pekoske said in a statement, "We are still seeing far too many firearms at TSA checkpoints, and what's particularly concerning is the amount of them loaded, presenting an unnecessary risk to everyone at the TSA checkpoint.
"Firearms and ammunition are strictly prohibited in carry-on baggage. Passengers are only allowed to travel with an unloaded firearm, and only if they pack it properly in a locked, hard-sided case in their checked baggage and first declare it to the airline at the check-in counter."
