The Mavericks are set to leave the American Airlines Center for their new home at Valley View in 2031.
Surely, they wouldn’t leave the Dirk statue behind, right?
The Mavs legend told the Dallas Morning News he is hopeful the team transfers the 23-foot statue to their new site, joking that “it might be more portable than me at this point.”
Nowitzki added, “I haven't really been in the Mavs loop all that much. Of course, there's new leadership in place now and I'm sure there's going to be more discussions over the next few months, but as of now, we haven't had many discussions about anything.”
Dirk’s statue is accompanied by one of Stars legend Mike Modano.
Both teams said the statues are movable and would be taken to each’s respective new stadiums upon their departures.
