Some of the greatest movies of all time were made in Texas. Of course, some pretty bad movies were made in the Lone Star state as well. Luckily for movie fans who don’t mind sitting through a “B-Movie,” a festival of classics from the 50s, 60s and 70s will be coming to Garland this fall. It Came From Texas Film Festival promises to display some of the best quirky, campy films made in Texas that fit the horror/sci-fi genre has to offer.
On October 28 and 29, The Plaza Theatre in Garland will become home to the It Came From Texas Film Festival. According to Dallas Culture Map, the film festival will consist mostly of B-movies shown at drive-in movie theaters around the country in the 1950s, '60s, and '70s. However, there will also be a screening of 1974's ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.’
Some of the other film’s featured will be ‘Zontar: Thing from Venus,’ ‘Manos: The Hands of Fate,’ ‘Don't Look in the Basement,’ ‘Beyond the Time Barrier,’ ‘The Amazing Transparent Man,’ ‘Attack of the Eye Creatures’ and ‘The Killer Shrews.’ Tickets for the film festival go on sale next week. For horror movie fans, this is an event they won’t want to miss.
