Helping others is always a good feeling, and is something people should learn about at a young age. That’s why Kirkpatrick Middle School has decided to launch a food pantry to help their community. The school teamed with Tarrant Area Food Bank to create Northside Eats, a grocery-style pantry located in the school’s basement.
Kirkpatrick Middle School in Fort Worth has been planning and organizing the Northside Eats food pantry for three years, and is finally ready to go. Along with the Tarrant Area Food Bank, the school also got financial support from the nonprofit Community Eats to help launch the pantry. “We wanted to create a safe place where families could get the essentials they need to support their families. And, for families to know that we not only care for their children's education but their entire well-being," said Kirkpatrick Middle School Principal Jeffrey Bartolotta.

According to NBC DFW, families must register to use the service, but once registered can find fresh produce, rice, beans, pasta, cereal and milk as they become available. The pantry is located at 3201 Refugio Avenue and is open three days a week during the summer months: Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Not only will this help families in need, but will also bring the community together.
