Yesterday, we learned that Neiman Marcus would be shuttering the doors of its offices in Dallas at CityPlace less than a year after its merger with Saks Fifth Avenue.
Initially, it remained unclear how this would affect the Neiman Marcus store in downtown Dallas, a city landmark which had been in business for over 100 years.
Well, later in the day we learned the store’s fate.
After more than a century, the Neiman Marcus will be officially closing its doors and shutting down at the end of March.
A Saks Global spokesperson told NBC DFW in a statement that they were “forced” to close the location.
“After more than a decade of negotiations, we received a notice from a landlord to terminate our occupancy, forcing us to close the Neiman Marcus Downtown Dallas location effective March 31, 2025. This location has been a beloved institution in the community for more than a century, and we are disappointed to be losing a piece of Neiman Marcus history.”
Neiman Marcus first opened at the intersection of Elm Street and North Field Street in 1914, but the building burned down in a fire. Later in the year, they moved to a new location at Main Street and Ervay, where they’d been in operation ever since.
Neiman Marcus must vacate the location by March 31, and are currently planning a $100 million renovation to their store in NorthPark.
