Last year, pop star Rihanna was photographed in her native Barbados dipping a piece of Mango into the water before eating it.
In a previous interview with Vogue, Rihanna explained that dipping fruit in the ocean is actually a quite common custom there.
"In Barbados we take our fruits to the ocean and soak them," she said, adding she enjoys the salty flavor it gives the fruit. "Trust me, it really is a thing."
That might be well and good for Rihanna or if you’re in Barbados, but the pictures going viral prompted warnings from people in Galveston, advising others to not attempt the same in Galveston’s ocean water as the it won’t add flavor to the fruit, but instead a bevy of diseases.
This is a life lesson we all should take heed of: just because it’s good for Rihanna, doesn’t mean it’s good for you!
