The State Fair of Texas is set to kick off next month, and in anticipation of all the people coming to Fair Park to check out the annual event, fair organizers have announced some new rules for attendees in 2023. One of those rules is focused on minors to ensure public safety for all. At this year’s fair, minors will not be allowed to enter the park without adult supervision after 5PM each day.

Starting September 29, when the 2023 State Fair of Texas begins, children 17 years old and younger will no longer be able to enter fairgrounds after 5PM without a parent, guardian, or chaperone that is at least 21 years old. According to Dallas Culture Map, the adult may accompany no more than six minors at the fair. “Public safety is our top priority. We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming experience for all who attend our annual celebration of Texas,” said Jaime Navarro, State Fair of Texas COO.

Parents, guardians and chaperones will be asked to show a valid ID when entering the park after 5PM. While this may seem like a punishment for adults, once in the park they don’t need to stay with the minors, though it is encouraged they remain in communication. With these new rules, the 2023 State Fair of Texas should be a little bit safer for everyone.
