It seems scam phone calls are becoming more and more frequent these days. Luckily, many avoid picking up these calls at all cost, but for those that make the mistake, these calls are now more convincing than ever before. The latest scam is targeting Tarrant County residents, to the point where County officials have been forced to put out a warning letting residents know the scam is not real.
The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office sent out a warning earlier this week claiming they are not behind the calls many have received regarding outstanding warrants, unpaid citations, and more. According to WFAA, the police say they do not call citizens demanding they put money on Green Dot cards, gift cards or over-the-phone account transfers to pay outstanding fines or avoid arrest, as the scam calls are claiming. They say the phone number seems legitimate, so they are asking residents to call their local police department if they think they've been victimized by the scam.

The scammers are reportedly telling residents to remain on the phone as they buy Green Dot cards, gift cards or using Zelle or Cashapp to pay the fraudulent fine or bond. Hopefully the warning helps prevent these scams from occurring. Of course, not picking up these calls always helps as well.
