If any of the cartoons from our childhood taught us anything, it's that mail carriers and dogs are mortal enemies.
Well Ian Burke, a mailman from Denton, has proven that is just not the case.
Burke has recently adopted a dog he used to visit on his old route after learning his Vietnam veteran owner passed away.
"Pretty Boy Floyd," a German Shepherd and Border Collie mix, was taken to a shelter, but he didn't have a long stay there. Burke was at the front of the line when the "hold" on him ended.
Burke told CBS News, "I'm honored to take care of the dog of a former customer and give him a good home. I strive to give him just as good a home, if not better."
