A Texas woman has been arrested after police say she concocted a plan to murder her ex-husband by mailing him fentanyl-laced chocolate.
According to WFAA, 63-year-old Pamela Jean Stanley allegedly planned to purchase powdered fentanyl and inject it into a "high-end" box of chocolate, which she would mail to her ex under the guise that it was a congratulatory gift from a travel agency for his recent engagement.
Undercover investigators coordinated the "purchase" of the fentanyl at a motel in Parker County. Stanley was immediately arrested after trying to make the purchase.
The woman was also found to have 9.5 grams of methamphetamine at the time of her arrest.
Stanley is facing charges of criminal solicitation with intent to commit murder, criminal attempt to commit murder, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Her total bond is set at $450,000.
Her trial has been set to begin on October 20.
