During the late 80s, Trent Reznor was hard at work writing Nine Inch Nail’s debut album, ‘Pretty Hate Machine.’ While that album helped launch his music career, it was another gig that helped him get by while working on his own music. An unearthed video from the 80s recently revealed Trent Reznor was once in a 80s synth pop band and the video has stunned many online.

As seen in the now viral clip, Reznor plays the synthesizer for a performance by the band Slam Bamboo. The video comes from the band’s 1987 performance on ‘AM Cleveland.’ During the video, the band’s lead singer says “applaud for Trent back there,” before claiming Reznor had been teaching a young man how to play the synthesizer before the show.

While many fans knew about Reznor’s previous work in bands like Option 30, The Innocent and Exotic Birds, not many knew about his time in Slam Bamboo. According to Loudersound, the video was originally shared on an Instagram profile dedicated to celebrating all things Goth. Now that the video has gone viral, maybe a Slam Bamboo reunion is on the way.
