U.S. Marines are usually tasked with defending the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic. We're not sure where jewelry heists fit into the mix in that oath.
Unfortunately, a U.S. Marine in Houston was recently arrested after he allegedly participated in multiple jewelry heists, stealing what's amounting to $500,000 in expensive goods!
According to FOX 26, when Houston police apprehended 18-year-old Marcelo Hernandez, his dog tags fell out of his shirt. Inside his vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz GLA, police found three handguns, $11,000 in cash, and $500,000 worth of jewelry including diamonds and other precious stones.
Hernandez is facing two counts of first-degree Felony Theft. Authorities are currently examining the guns to see if they were used in any other crimes.
