A new study shows where Pittsburgh ranks when it comes to safety, compared to other cities.

The study, done by Scholaroo, shows Pittsburgh as the 53rd safest city in America out of 150 other areas.

Scholaroo looked at crime and safety indicators per capita and each metric that was looked at was ranked on a 100-point scale.

The metrics looked at include, number of police officers, homicide rate, sexual assault, sex offenders, robbery, aggravated assault, school shootings, watch group participation, arson, house burglar, larceny/theft and motor vehicle theft.

When it came to the number of police officers, Pittsburgh ranked 4th highest.

That comes as a surprise with the officer shortage in Pittsburgh’s Police Department.

But Scholaroo says Pittsburgh has a high rate of officers per capita.

The top five safest cities are:

Saint Paul, Minnesota
Port St. Lucie, Florida
Cranston, Rhode Island
Provo, Utah
Naperville, Illinois

Least safe:

Jackson, Mississippi
Cincinnati, Ohio
Baltimore, Maryland
Memphis, Tennessee
Detroit, Michigan

The safest city in Pennsylvania is Allentown, coming in seventh overall.

Philadelphia came in at 136.
