During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sedgwick County Treasurer's Office remains open to serve the public with their motor vehicle registration and renewal needs. Governor Kelly issued an executive order which extends the expiration of vehicle tag renewals for 60 days from the expiration of her executive order. This order does not include the processing of title work.
In an effort to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus, the Treasurer's Office has altered business operations to insure maximum safety to clerks and customers. Besides frequent cleaning and sanitizing, they are only permitting 10 customers to enter either of their two tag offices.
Almost half of the staff have been furloughed which has caused a need to shut down the QLess virtual waiting line system and place a clerk at both tag offices to conduct a manual headcount to insure there are only 10 customers in the building at any one time.
They have gone to a first come first serve protocol and are accepting call ahead appointments for title work. Residents are encouraged to renew tags by mail, online, or via the iKan app, rather than visiting a tag office.
