A truck driver who kidnapped then murdered a Dallas sex worker faces an automatic life federal prison term.
It took an hour for a federal jury to convict 28-year-old Naasson Hazzard of kidnapping resulting in death. In August, the Austin man picked up a 25-year-old woman from a Dallas truck stop. She disappeared.
Nine days later her body was found buried in east Texas with a plastic bag over her head. Federal agents used cell phone records to track Hazzard's travels. He actually returned to the scene with his wife before the two went to dinner. Then Hazzard tried to scrub his phone of data while his wife searched for news from the Pittsburgh Texas area.
Although a presentence report was ordered the charge carries a mandatory life prison term.
