The Padres took a tough loss on Saturday night, losing 2-1 to the Dodgers on a day in which Blake Snell was masterful. Snell allowed just one hit in six innings, but that hit was a 2-run homer to Chris Taylor in the 4th inning, which ended up being all the offense LA would need. The Padres rallied in the bottom of the 8th, as Brett Sullivan led things off with a double down the left field line. Fernando Tatis Jr. drove Sullivan home with a double of his own, and the Padres had the tying run in scoring position with no outs. Tatis advanced to third base on a grounder from Manny Machado, but would be stranded at third base after infield groundouts by both Juan Soto and Xander Bogaerts, as the Dodgers held on to win 2-1.
