HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Major League Baseball announced Astros pitcher Hector Neris has been suspended for four games and Dusty Baker has been suspended for one game after the events of Monday's game.
Neris was ejected in the ninth inning of the Mariners 7-4 win after throwing near Eugenio Suarez, two batters after the benches cleared following Neris hitting Ty France with a fastball, resulting in warnings to both benches. Baker was ejected with Neris.
Baker will serve his suspension on Tuesday night, with bench coach Joe Espada taking over the team in his absence. Neris has appealed his suspension and will be available out of the Astros bullpen.
Both Baker and Neris received undisclosed fines as did Espada, Astros first base coach Omar Lopez and hitting coach Troy Snitker. Mariners manager Scott Servais was also fined.
