Georgia residents are being warned about a phone scam that falsely claims people have missed jury duty and owe fines.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office says scammers are spoofing legitimate phone numbers to make calls appear as though they are coming directly from law enforcement. Victims are told they missed jury duty and must pay fines, often through Bitcoin or other electronic payment methods. Officials emphasize that sheriff’s offices do not call residents demanding payment for missed jury service and do not collect fines through cryptocurrency.

In other community news, more mental health resources are becoming available for young people in metro Atlanta. Through grant funding and a new partnership, children participating in Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta programs will have expanded access to mental health services. The initiative includes access to licensed therapists and trauma-informed training for staff members, helping provide additional support for youth and families.
