The Burgers came up just a few fries short of a happy meal as Hub City fell in the South Atlantic League Finals in two straight games. Brooklyn got a 2-1 win Tuesday night at Fifth Third Park in Spartanburg to take the league Championship.
The Burgers were held scoreless until the bottom of the 8th when they scratched across their lone run of the night. In the 9th, Cyclone reliever Hoss Brewer sat Hub City down 1,2,3 to close the game.
Still, the Spartanburgers accomplished a lot in their inaugural season, winning the South Division Title with a two game sweep of Bowling Green.
They also took the I-85 rivalry with more wins against Greenville Drive in the season series. Hub City will open their 2nd season in Spartanburg next April.
