Defense shines in Furman playoff win over Chattanooga

After falling behind early, Furman football took control and went on to cruise to a 26-7 win in their playoff opener, Saturday. The Paladin defense gave up a Chattanooga TD drive and Furman trailed 7-0 after the 1st quarter.

Furman then got a 1 yard Dominic Roberto TD run to tie it at 7. The Paladins then added a field goal late in the 1st half to lead 10-7 at the break. Furman then scored 16 unanswered in the 2nd half to win 26-.7. The Paladin defense held Chattanooga to 200 total yards of offense and 9 1st downs.

Furman QB Tyler Huff was back in the lineup after being out with an injury late in the regular season. Huff was 18 of 29 passing for 192 yards and a pick. The win moves Furman to 10-2 and gives the program back to back double digit win seasons.

They travel to take on 2nd ranked Montana on Saturday. That game is set for a 9PM eastern kickoff in Big Sky Country. Hear all the action on The Fan Upstate.
